  2. Bohen Foundation

    • The Bohen Foundation is a private not-for-profit foundation that supports contemporary art and culture and requires maximum spatial flexibility to allow the exhibition of different media. Eight shipping container sections are used to create the permanent functions of the foundation and each can be moved on rails set within the old printing factory’s floor. Movable wall partitions are also used to create flexible gallery spaces. In the basement level, films and other multi-media installations are shown.

The interior gallery space has moving walls and lights so that the individual artists can hone their installations to fit their needs.     • Milk Studios and Gallery is a full service photo studio. The ground level of the Milk Studios is a 6,000 square foot raw gallery space and features contemporary and creative popular art shows. The large white space has 12-foot ceilings and columns and six removable walls. The floor is glossy epoxy-coated concrete. The venue also has a catering preparation area, but no kitchen, and high-speed Internet access. The space holds 650 for receptions or 400 for seated events. The whole complex is 45,000 square feet and also offers production and casting services.

    • White Columns is one of New York’s oldest alternative art spaces. It was founded in 1970 to present and uphold the most challenging and creative visual arts by under-supported artists. White Columns consists of an ongoing program of culturally diverse exhibitions and services for visual artists. It is a not-for-profit gallery which is open to the public, free of charge, eleven months per year. Many of this country’s most prominent artists received their first major exposure through a White Columns show.
