Owner Paul Caddell named his shop after the park across the street – Abingdon Square. The shop sells eclectic and fine furnishings and home accessories from around the world. Included in the inventory are one of a kind vintage and mid-century modern furniture and current accessories ranging from sleek to whimsical.
Brother and sister team Constantine and Christiana bring back the original British Chesterfield sofas and chairs. Originally designed for the Earl of Chesterfield in the mid 1800’s, the Chesterfield has been redesigned with modern sensibility, hand made and using the finest hand-dyed leather. Hudson Furniture’s founder started out in 1995 with a passion for superb design and high quality wood furniture. Hudson Furniture products are hand-built by skilled craftsmen one piece at a time with meticulous attention to detail. Hudson respects the natural forms of trees and inherent grain of wood with well defined organic lines and geometric forms using traditional joinery techniques and hand rubbed oil finishes. All of their furniture is available in a variety of wood species such as Claro Walnut, Black Walnut, Myrtle, Jasmine, Acacia, Satinwood and Ebonized Pine and none of the woods they use are harvested from old growth forests. Hudson also has furniture made from petrified wood.
Bolander’s sophisticated and original collection includes Gustavian and French 17th through 19th century painted furniture, European prints, antique portraits, pillows from Chile, colored glass vases and many other special things from around the world that you won’t find anywhere else.
